1st Time Stay at Holiday Inn Vacation Resort

Had a wonderful experience at IHG vacation club. Rooms were exceptional and amenities are great at the Williamsburg VA location.

I recommend this resort to families who just want time with their grandkids.

Great in every way

Staff, location and room. There is nothing that can be said other than it was great. The worst part was that we never wanted to leave the room!

Aggressive Timeshare Push - Will Not Be Returning

I have been an IHG club member for a while now and typically love staying at Holiday Inn locations. However, this one has certainly made me reconsider some of the values of the company. First, I will begin with the actual room. Room had a decent amount of amenities and was mostly clean, although the tub jets were dirty so we only used the tub shower. I did mention the dirty jets to a staff member and was told I should have requested a walk-in shower, but I didn’t see any option for that during booking. It was nice to be able to cook and clean our own clothes and dishes at this location. We were told the building we were in had a central air unit that was out of our control, but that we could change our temperature slightly within that range. Room was still very hot even with our adjustments to turn it down (our room ended up reaching 77 degrees at some point during our December stay). There were some other amenities on the property, like food, workshops, and bowling, but many cost a bit extra. Stay was mostly worth it for the off-season price, but I do not think it would be worth the price during the on-season. Positive shout out to the friendly cleaning staff and friendly women at the first part of the check-in process at the front desk. The big reason for the low rating was the pressure and disrespect regarding the timeshare presentation. We did not come to this hotel with the intention of attending a timeshare presentation, but you could not receive your room key or parking pass without being offered one first. We were slightly interested in the concept, so we signed a contract at entry with Mary Claire, stating we would attend a 90 minute timeshare presentation in exchange for a monetary gift. We had told Mary Claire that our vacation was short and that we were intending to go to Jamestown, and she offered to give us cash and Jamestown tickets in exchange for attending the presentation; she reiterated it would only be 90 minutes, so we agreed. The next day, we attended a 9am presentation with Suzanna B. The beginning of our presentation was fine, but our vacation was short, so at about 10:35am, we asked to leave and be given our gift, as we fulfilled the requirements of our contract and we wanted to use most of the day to explore Jamestown. When we said this, our presenter Suzanna snapped at us, called us rude for interrupting her presentation, and was snarky and passive aggressive, saying we could not leave and receive our gift until we did the model tour. When we told her we signed a contract (which we had in-hand), she said, “What contract?” and told us she only did 2 hour tours and that we should have informed her we wanted a 90 minute tour, even though that wasn’t our responsibility and we weren’t aware there were different tour options. She said “If I had known you only wanted a 90 minute tour, I wouldn’t have talked so much,” which also wasn’t our responsibility. When we tried to apologize and say we felt it was a misunderstanding with management, she snapped at us in front of other guests, saying, “I’m not going to go back and forth with you. Do you want to see the model or not?” She made us feel unwelcome and disrespected. All interest we had in a timeshare for this company immediately went out the window after that, and while we did receive the gift after agreeing to do the model tour, we were unhappy and uncomfortable for the rest of our stay. I do not know why we were told it was 90 minutes and Suzanna was told it was 2 hours; I’m not sure if it was a miscommunication on Suzanna’s end or during the check-in process, but regardless, it should never have fallen on us as guests. We do not intend to ever return to this property, and if we ever purchase a timeshare in the future, it will definitely be somewhere else.

Impressive resort with poor temperature control

This Resort impressed me from the moment I drove on to the property. Well manicured Landscaping, beautiful lighting Etc. The check-in process was annoying however. The staff is great I like everybody I talked with but having to check in with one person and then wait around in the lobby for a salesperson to come up to give you your key and the Spiel on listening to a timeshare presentation (I bought a room through ihg.com so I wasn't here for timeshare nor was I on a discounted trip because of that) was annoying I just wanted them my key so that I could go to my room. The room was outstanding, clean, electric fireplace, full kitchen, full size refrigerator, jacuzzi in the bathroom, washer and dryer really excellent. However, the big caveat here is that given the temperature outside the building is on a central unit which either Heats or cools depending on the outside temperature and the outside temperature was right about that level where it was in heat only mode (outside temperature just under 60). The room was entirely too hot, I woke up at 12:30 at night and the room temperature was 80° and the hall temperature was 81° and there really isn't any way to lower the temperature because the patio door doesn't have a screen so that you can keep it open. 80° is just too hot to sleep for me. So overall it's a high value location if you can get a good deal, but I would stick to staying there when the temperature outside is consistently either cold or hot, I can't recommend staying there if the outside temperature is fluctuating between 50s and 70s because you won't have a comfortable temperature experience. I wasn't building 300 I don't know if all buildings are the same.

The front desk does nothing about noise from other guest call from phone in room and my cell phone and did nothing about it

Amazing Staff and Rooms

The staff were all very communicative and knowledgeable when I had questions, and requests! The rooms were exactly like the pictures, clean, aesthetic and very very homey!!

Nice but pitch not necessary

Everything looked nice and was comfortable but the jacuzzi tub was so loud that it wasn’t relaxing. Either way I would never stay here again because I had to listen to a pitch about going to a presentation the next day for a $200 cash benefit or something that I did not want to do nor did I have time for her speech or attending a meeting later.

Great stay

A great place to stay if you are in the Williamsburg area. We only stayed one night as we were on our way to a golf tournament nearby. Would love to stay longer. Great accommodations. Room was incredible. Great value for the price.
