Very Disappointing Stay in an Old and Noisy Proper

The overall stay experience was very poor. The accommodation was located on a mountain and extremely hard to find, it took a very long drive to get there, and the surrounding area was desolate. It took a long drive just to get anywhere. The room itself was very old and run-down, like something from the 1970s or 1980s, and it had a strong, unpleasant odor. In addition, there was a loud noise inside the room that made it impossible for me to sleep all night. I asked maintenance to check it, and while the staff were very nice, they told me the noise was from the water heating system and couldn’t be fixed. Overall, the facilities were just too old. The customer service was generally good and responsible, but there were some inconsistencies. For example, when I texted to ask for disposable toothpaste and toothbrush, I was told they only had disposable toothpaste, not toothbrushes. But when I called customer service, they sent me both. I’m not sure why the system gives different answers, it seems there’s no consistent service standard.

The worst customer service I have ever encountered

I tried to give management an opportunity to resolve the long list of issues that occurred on our stay and my friends wedding, but I received no response. I don't generally like leaving poor reviews, but as a very frequent traveler, this stay had to be the worst. We were staying for a wedding, and I will leave the list of complete disservices this venue did to the couple, and focus only on my experience as a guest. We checked in and had to rush over to the rehearsal so we entered our room shortly before 5:00. Immediately we were hit with a weird odor. Trying to find the source, we opened the mini fridge which honestly smelled like dead animal. We had many other friends / guests staying in close rooms and had them come smell it as well to make sure I was not being a baby. It was awful, and by opening the fridge it made the whole room smell to the point where people were gagging. I called down to the front desk and told them, they said they'd send someone up. I explained I was going to a rehearsal dinner and she asked if someone could come in while we were gone to which I said yes. I said in all probably the fridge will need to be taken out of the room, but we would need another because my fiance was staying in the room most of the day while I got ready for the wedding with the bride so he needed the fridge for his snacks and drinks for the day. We got back at 9:00 briefly to grab my dress and steamer to help the bride steam her dress and walked into the room to the awful smell still there. I opened the fridge, and it was worse. No one had come. I called down again and said at this point, I just need to be moved I can't wait another 4 hours for maintenance to come up we have to go help the wedding couple get ready for the wedding tomorrow. The person I spoke with was SO UNBELIEVABLY CURT. She said "well its going to be a minute so I'll call you" I politely explained I cannot wait much longer I've already given them 4 hours to solve the problem and they did not - I needed a resolution now because the bride was literally waiting on me. I waited 10 minutes and she did not call back, so I called down again. The phone rang and was hung up on twice. I started to get suspicious that she was hanging up knowing it was my room number so I called from my cell phone while I stood in the hallway in front of other guests of the hotel. I said "I'm in room XXXX I really need to get this resolved ASAP" to which probably the RUDEST response from a male I've ever received "she SAID she would call YOU back" and then proceeded to say "You're being moved you're being moved you're being moved" over and over again, talking over me, not letting me talk, getting louder and louder. What I was TRYING to ask was, "do you know if its in the same building?" (I ask because this hotel has multiple buildings not walking distance to each other so if I was getting moved further away I wanted to bring my stuff to the car). He literally would not let me talk. The other guests in the hallway were APPALLED at how he was talking to me and started to yell in the background. I went into the room to quietly explain that this was uncalled for, I'd been very patient waiting 4+ hours (it was 9:30 at this point) for a resolution to something that should never have been an issue. They moved us, and guess what - that room had a fridge that did not work at ALL. So while I was at the brides room, they had to move us again, thankfully we had other guests to help. Now, in all honesty, the issues with the room I probably would never had left a review, it happens, in fact, issues happen all the time, it's not a big deal. But the way I spoken to by multiple people in "hospitality' was egregious. There are many more instances where staff we interacted with were very rude that I started to believe that was just part of their training policy. 0/10 I would honestly never go back.

Great Resort. Will go back again

Great views, clean and spacious rooms, smooth check-in, helpful front desk. The rooms, utensils, etc. were clean. The drive up to the resort is good, and there are parking garages to park the car. We had 2 adjacent rooms but the shared door between them was locked. I informed the front desk about it and the housekeeping staff came in minutes to unlock. I have seen some reviews about rooms being hot. I was not there during summer, but I saw that rooms had fans and there was a spare box fan in one of the closets. The room description clearly mentions that the rooms are not air conditioned. We used the resort shuttle to Ballys. It is very convenient and runs on schedule. If I had to complain, I would have only 2 things: 1. The heater in the room was *probably* not working. I had set it up to very high and it remained at whatever temperature throughout our stay. The fireplace was also probably not working - it switched it on and nothing happened. However - since it was not very cold, i did not inform the front desk about it. So I cannot fault them for it. 2. The resort should mention shuttle on their website. It is a very convenient service and can influence someone to book this resort instead of something else. Overall great experience. Would stay again.

Amazing Resort. One of the best in Lake Tahoe

This resort was amazing. The rooms are so clean and big. The resort is beautiful. Staff is so friendly. Beds are comfy. Own kitchen with everything to cook was wonderful. Fireplace in room was so nice. One of the best resorts I've ever stayed in. 10/10 Perfect weekend getaway. Will definitely staff here again. Probably every year. Location is wonderful with spectacular views. Love this place.

Hotel is ok not worth what they charge. Tried to talk to a manager about extra charges I received for the room and no one answer and call was dropped 3 times probably won't be returning her.

Beautiful setting

Nice staff in a beautiful setting. Furniture could use updating but our connecting two bedroom unit had great views and a nice balcony. Very frustrating to have the timeshare people call multiple times to get us to attend a sales presentation after saying we had no interest and take us off the list. Would not take no for an answer, kept calling and finally has to keep hanging up on them. As a Platinum IHG member I booked through the hotel website and told the sales staff we had no interest. I probably won't book another IHG vacation club property again because of the hassle and high pressure. Management needs to fix this problem.

Wonderful place to stay & play

We had our daughter's wedding here. The location and amenities made it a perfect mini destination wedding. The rooms are spacious & views spectacular (if you don't end up with rooms in front of the pickleball courts). All our guests enjoyed themselves with plenty to see & do before and after the wedding.

Expensive suite to have not air

Understandable that air conditioning isn’t required all the time but there should be a better option. Windows were limited in how much they could open so we couldn’t even get the air circulating from outside to help cool things off.

Already planning for coming back again.

The resort and the suite we stayed at are in a beautiful location with perfect vistas of the mountains around Lake Tahoe. Our suite was perfect for a relaxing evening, with a real fireplace, comfortable furniture and great views of mountains in front of us. The bedrooms are very cozy. We were visiting Lake Tahoe as part of a long road trip with parents in the summer, but we'd love to come back here again in winter and enjoy a couple's retreat as well.
