Not exactly what we were expecting
We were surprised when we got there and the beach was across the road. The pictures on the website are very misleading. There is a shuttle service that takes you across and parking but not as convenient as one is lead to believe. Our room was very large the King suite. Again we were mislead and told that the suites were on the ocean side, which wasn't true. We were also told there was no construction going on and there was. The staff tried to find us another room because of the noise, but we decided to stay where we were. When you first arrive the check in process is in two steps. This is a nuisance after a long drive you check in and then to get your parking pass you are sent to another desk. I am sure that this is not necessary and that the first people could give you the gate code, but you are enticed to participate in a sales pitch to purchase a timeshare. The parking was funny in the sense that you have this access code so you are thinking it is a secured lot...however, around our building there is a low fence that anyone could step over to enter the grounds.....not very safe for guests or your vehicle in my opinion. Loved our room - so much space, the washer and dryer was handy, kitchen fully stocked with dishes, cleaning detergents, dishwasher. So much nicer than a hotel room with a kitchenette. Felt like your own little condo. Overall our stay was very nice. Some other guests made it difficult to enjoy the facilities, but that isn't the resorts fault, it is the time of year although security could have monitored the area a bit better to shut down some activities.
Yes, I recommend this property.

Not everything we were expecting
First of all I called down to the hotel before booking and was told that all of the suites had an ocean view and they do not. They are on the opposite side of the road. There is one photo on the website that shows a pool with a bridge leading to the beach. This is across from the hotel itself. There is a shuttle service and separate parking. The other question that I had asked was regarding construction - I was told that the construction was complete. It was not. Our room was very close to the construction which began at 7:30 each morning. The front desk did their best to try and find us another room but after exploring some limited options we chose to remain in our room. The staff were very helpful and kind - thank you Michelle. Our room was beautiful with lots of space, nicely decorated and it had a washer and dryer which was very helpful. There was a sticky stain on our carpet and a set of lights were burnt out. Maintenance came very quickly and fixed both of those items. They were polite, courteous and professional. I was surprised that it was a gated resort and we had to have a pass code to enter the grounds, but when we drove over to our building the fence was so low anyone could have stepped over it and entered the grounds, so to me it kind of defeated the purpose. When checking in you get everything on one side of the lobby and then to get the parking pass you have to go over to another desk, which ends up being an opportunity only to have those people try and sign you up for a sales pitch to purchase a time share. After a long drive I didn't appreciate having to wait in two lines, it is unnecessary. Maybe another approach should be considered to inform people of the option. Overall - nice property, well kept and I am sure much nicer than many places to stay on the same street.

Off Season Resort Living at its Best
Sometimes schools have spring break well before spring actually breaks. HICV Myrtle Beach-South Beach was ready and able to meet our lodging needs from the 5th to the 9th of March, nearly two weeks before spring breakers were actually going to be visiting Myrtle Beach, and the price for what we received in amenities was excellent! The only drawback of visiting a resort community out-of-season is that none of the normal fare is available to serve you, including services at the resort. This wasn't an issue for us, but it might be something to pay attention to for travelers with expectations of a full resort experience. I would have loved to walk up to the barefoot bar at the pool, for instance, during out stay, but it wasn't open at all during our stay. Also, South Carolina is a blue law state, making refreshment purchase planning a real chore. That bar being open inside the resort grounds would have made nightcaps very convenient. There was one issue in the room, but it wasn't something that could be resolved, and it wasn't a major, or even minor concern. The headboard in the master bedroom was anchored into the wall so close to an electrical outlet that plugging anything into the outlet other than the nightstand lamp and alarm clock was impossible. With only one outlet on the bed side of the room being accessible to room occupants, charging devices became pretty difficult.
Yes, I recommend this property.

Very Nice
Overall the suite we stayed in was very nice and very clean. The king suite was larger then a lot of NY apartments - complete with a separate bed room, large bath room, dinning room table for four, breakfast bar, nice living room area with gas fireplace, and a screened in porch for lounging. The kitchen area had everything we needed to cook and "eat in" if we chose. The only down side was the pictures on the reservations site are a little deceptive in that I thought this hotel was on the beach but it is across the street from their on the beach "Beach Club". There is a shuttle or you can walk and it is not that far. The other negative is that the front desk does not open until 7:00am. Leaving before that time, I had to check out via a phone call while on the road. However, I did really like this hotel and plan to stay again.
Yes, I recommend this property.

NOT for a business stay
While this may be a good place to stay for a vacation, it is definitely NOT the place to stay for a one night business stay. The checking in process means you need to go to TWO different desks and you do not get a receipt when checking out before 7am. (The front desk is not open until 7am!!!). Also, the hotel is a LONG way from Myrtle Beach! All in all, go elsewhere when you need to be in Myrtle Beach area for business.
No, I do not recommend this property.
