Cleanliness and cozy

This is my family 2nd stay and we enjoyed it as much as the first time, it has gotten bigger and better. I wish they had complimentary breakfast though, maybe they will work towards that since it’s a resort. We wanted to experience the sight of a bear and yes we finally got a chance to see a black cub at the Holiday Inn Express outdoor hot tube area...I fell in love! The villa was nice clean and cozy. Everything is walking distance, I did not have to move my truck until it was time to leave. We are definitely trying to make this one of our family annual vacation spot

Gatlinburg

This resort falls short....

First the obvious, as with every IHG resort, they hard sell you on a timeshare. Here’s my opinion, if I accept your invite for a discounted or free weekend, fine try to sell me. When I’m paying full price, let me get my materials and be on my way. Many, many times I choose not to stay at these resorts just to avoid the pitch and the rudeness that follows when I tell them no. This property is typical gatlinburg. What could be great stops a couple steps shy. Dirty, dated rooms. The cheapest towels and toiletries to be found. Grounds dirty, not groomed. Common areas not updated, connected or useful. Staff had minimal ability to help a guest, or maybe just unwilling. Example:posted check in time is 4pm. I arrived at 1pm, Only after calling to verify I could check in early. Look, if I can’t check in till 4 fine, just don’t lie to me and tell me I can. Didn’t matter, couldn’t get a room until 5:20 anyway. I was offered a meal voucher for my entire family. I got a $50 gift certificate. Because apparently 6 of us can eat for $50. Didn’t matter, went to restaurant, ate, attempted to pay. Certificate was expired. After 30 minutes the restaurant just said go ahead and go, we will figure it out. Washer leaked during stay, housekeeping was prompt and repaired. No further issues, that stuff happens. Overall room is not really cleaned. My wife walked to the Walgreens and purchased cleaning supplies to clean the room. We found hair everywhere, nail clippings in the shower, food and toys under couches and chairs and general grime throughout. Having stayed at multiple IHG resorts across the country, this one is a hard pass from me. If we didn’t need the floor space for multiple young ones, you’d be better with a couple adjoins rooms at the holiday inn express next door. You can use all the resort amenities and get breakfast, for less money. That is where I typically stay in gatlinburg when alone on business. Property has no restaurant, no non-guided activities,(other IHG properties have bowling allies, putt putt, etc), and common areas like outdoor pool and hot tub can be viewed by everyone in property and the adjoining property, so no privacy. Use your own judgment, but again, I’ll pass.

Great room. Needed new washer and dryer. Seemed to be worn out. Really noisy. Had to turn off drier to sleep.

Amazing family vacation!

The units at this property make you feel like you at home. Coming back from a day of adventure and being able to relax by the fireplace it the perfect ending to a perfect day. This is out second year doing this vacation and it just may become an annual event for us.
