Credit Card Fraud and Dirty Towels
I paid my deposit a month prior to staying. At check in I paid the remainder as well as security deposit. The day after checking in a random $300 was taken from my card and only explanation was it was a glitch. Some glitch huh? Well then we had to request towels and they delivered us dirty towels. How absolutely disgusting is that? I submitted photos to county health dept. they had feces on them! Then the room above us peed off of the balcony, I leaned over to yell at them and literally saw a gentlemen’s privates. I called security and watched as they arrived, the guard asked if they did it, they said no, the guard said have a good day. I filed a police report but not much could be done since security for the resort “already did their own report” Never stay here.
No, I do not recommend this property.

Great place in the hill country
Had a blast staying here with the family. Stayed with another family in the building next to us and we had a blast. Will definitely come here again!

Old Canyon Lake
The Good: Rooms were clean; the staff was very good. Manda in the Activities Center was super. She should get a Bonus! The pool area and mini golf were nice. I liked the salt water pool, much better than chlorine. The Staff make this hotel a nice place. The Bad: The rooms could use some upgrades. Our first room had major water issues within 1.5 hours after we moved in. Second room was good but outdated. The arcade room was a nice touch but two thirds of the games did not work. And there were only 2 prizes kids could win. It would help when making a reservation if the age of the hotel was listed. The Ugly: I was badgered about attending a Time Share Event for 20 minutes at check in! Just drove 12 hours. If you skip it you don’t get a parking pass. A lot of arm twisting?
Yes, I recommend this property.

Totally relaxable
My Family and Friends stayed here for a long weekend to relax and connect with Friends. I have to say we love the Texas Hill Country region so it is hard to find negative things. It is in short distance from the SAT-Airport, 45 min. The location itself did looked clean and taken care off and no trash was longer than 24 hours to see. Beer cans from other reckless guest were cleaned the next day. There is plenty around in short distance to discover and enjoy. Schlitterbahn, Gruene, Tubing, a lot of good restaurants all over the area and fast to reach. The drive in theatre was also really nice and price wise totally worth it! We were only some towels short but we could have asked if we really needed it ^^ The Buildings we stayed in where on the other side of the road from the main complex. It is separated between normal folks, presidental and another stage I cant remember. So for the main pool we needed to take the car. Not a big deal but i'm not used to it to be away from the main area with a main road in between. Nothing I would say is negative just a minor inconvenience. really enjoyed the time there!

Very Disappointed
We used our Free Anniversary Night for this room and were disappointed. It took us over 20 minutes driving around to find where to check in. Then we stood in line with 3 three front desk staff behind the counter and only one working. We had to climb 3 flights of stairs lugging our suitcases only to find our room had NO VIEW. One bedroom faced the noisy road and the other had blinding morning sun. The shower did not work only the tub. There was no closet and the single rod to hang clothes in the bathroom was too high for me to reach and I am a tall woman. The bedroom was dusty but the bed was decent. We were glad we did not have to pay for this room. The nearest decent restaurant (Gennaros Tratoria) was on the other side of the lake but was well worth the drive. This was not a hotel and not like any of the other IHG properties that we have stayed at.
No, I do not recommend this property.

More Improvements needed
The location of the room was entirely too far from the main area that houses the activities causes the children not to participate without having to get in the car and driving down the street. Entry into the location is confusing. It seemed like two separate hotels. Front area very congested. Not at all what we expected. I could have gotten a standard room at any hotel and paid less for what we had access to utilize. I was greatly disappointed in the condition of the room. We had 5 staying in the room and was only allowed towels for 4 without an additional charge per towel.
No, I do not recommend this property.

Great multi-generational vacay - with some caveats
Long story short: we had an incredible time. My 80 year old parents, my elementary school kids, and I stayed at the "Presidential" complex. My parents loved the view, the spaciousness of the room, and the quietness/peacefulness. My kids loved the Internet, the amenities (arcade, billiards table, mini golf, ping pong), and the jacuzzi tub. The nitty gritty details and some caveats when thinking about this location: (1) It is in the middle of nowhere. We had to drive at least 30 minutes to get to the nearest more sizable town. It *is* pretty close to tubing on the Guadalupe *and* Canyon Lake, though. Just not near a lot of eating establishments. (2) The resort is sprawling and divided in the middle by a 3-lane highway. I have never seen this before. We stayed on the 'other' side of the highway, which meant that we had an incredible view of Canyon Lake and the sunset. However, this meant that we had to get into the car and drive to the main area with the mini golf course indoor pool cafeteria ping pong arcade. Mind you - there was an outdoor pool and playground really close to us - but the kiddos, of course, wanted to hit the arcade whenever they could. (3) The resort is hard to find. We ended up having to do U turns until we found it. Trust your GPS and don't look for signs! (4) As far as I know, there is no sundry shop. That is, you'd have to drive 'off-campus' to pick up stuff like sunscreen or Chapstick. Certainly not a deal breaker and we brought all that anyway, but just something to keep in mind. (5) IMHO - this isn't a 'hotel' - it's more like a Airbnb/VRBO/cabin rental on steroids - for half the price. I loved that. However, it also means that you don't get your room cleaned every day, but that was the only difference we noticed.
Yes, I recommend this property.
