HISTORY SEEKING AND RELAXATION

We traveled with friends and very much enjoyed our stay. Stacey(?) at the front desk when we arrived, and arranged for a serviceman to assist me turn on the shower (I should have been able to do this without help) was the best. Tom who assisted our daughter when she called was also very helpful. The restaurants in the area were really very good as were those we tried at Historic Williamsburg. The suite was very nice and comfortable. We traveled with friends so we had to use the pull out couch and this was OK. We asked about a 2 bedroom unit and were told there was none available. This seemed a little strange as the resort was nowhere near full. The resort needs an indoor pool tn the worst way.

Yes, I recommend this property.

Discriminate against motorcyclists??

I had something happen over this past weekend that really ticked me off. Below is the text of the email I sent to your headquarters today, using the online form at https://www.ihg.com/holidayinnclubvacations/hotels/us/en/customer-care/. I spent Friday and Saturday nights (May 2-3, 2014) at the Holiday Inn Williamsburg Resort, 200 English Garden Way, Williamsburg, VA 23188 to attend the state meeting of a combat veterans association I belong to, and a charity fundraising motorcycle ride they were sponsoring the following day. I have been a Holiday Inn customer for more than 40 years. When I arrived at the property at approximately 9 p.m. Friday, May 2, I was on my motorcycle and wearing my riding gear, to include my veterans' organization leather vest. I left my bike out front and went in to registration to check in. There were three clerks behind the desk and, I believe, a female manager who appeared to be about to depart. There was a little small talk with the female manager before her departure about my ride that day and the fact I had ridden in from Fairfax. She then departed. One of the three desk clerks asked for my credit card and some identification and I provided both my credit card and drivers license. At that time, I was told that I would be charged a "damage deposit" in excess of $150 for my stay. Folks, I am a retired military officer, disabled combat veteran, and retired civil servant. In my more than 40 years as a HI customer, I have NEVER been charged a "damage deposit" for a stay in one of your properties. Was I assessed this fee because I was on a motorcycle and wearing my motorcycle gear? Were you assuming that I was part of some biker "gang" and fearful that I was going to trash my room? Do you charge everyone who stays at your property for two nights a "damage deposit?" While the newly renovated room in which I stayed was comfortable and well appointed, I also brought to your attention that I needed a ground floor room as I have knee problems, which make it difficult to use stairs. Although there were no ground floor rooms available, I was assured that I could use the elevator near the pool in my building to avoid the stairs. It was recommended that I use the one closest to the pool as the elevator on the other end of the building required walking a steep incline to go from the parking area to the elevator.# While the elevator was working the night I checked in, it was out of service for the remainder of my stay and I ended up having to use the stairs. I know your property is still undergoing renovation, but something as key as an elevator must be kept in operation for your handicapped guests and those with small children who were using strollers. Based on my experience, I would not recommend that other motorcyclists stay at this property.

No, I do not recommend this property.

Lovely remodeld property

This property has been totally remodeled and it is very nice. Just be sure you get to choose either the "standard" or "Signature" room. We were not given a choice and got the standard - everything nice and clean but not many upgrades. The Signature rooms had granite, tile, luxury linens and even better toiletries! From floor to ceiling, the Signature was MUCH better! The pool wasn't open but it didn't look like anything special. Overall, even with hot water problems due to remodel (that were quickly fixed), we enjoyed our stay. If you have small kids, go with the standard. Won't have to worry about the fancy stuff in the Signature rooms. We would definitely stay there again.

Yes, I recommend this property.
